Engage4BIO was an experience that broadened my understanding of the role of design in the ecological transition. The project brings together professionals from different fields to rethink the use of natural resources and propose sustainable solutions within the bioeconomy.
During my participation, I developed the project “Biodegradable Pots”, in partnership with Flores de Joaquim Santos and the University of Porto. The proposal explores how organic waste can be transformed into new biodegradable materials for product design, investigating the potential of biomass and natural formulations.
The initiative reinforced the importance of collaboration between the creative, scientific, and industrial fields, showing that design can serve as a bridge between innovation and environmental responsibility. The project’s recognition among the European finalists highlighted the value of applied research and material experimentation as key pathways toward a more circular and sustainable future.
